Cheese & Pesto Puff Pastry with Cream Sauce

What’s the secret to irresistibly delicious puff pastries (also known as “fatayer”)? The rich, cheesy filling of course! Kiri squares, mozzarella, pesto and dried tomatoes are lightly baked inside buttery puff pastries and dipped in a homemade Kiri cream sauce.

Makes 12 pastries

Ingredients

  • 6 Kiri squares
  • 100 grams Mozzarella cheese
  • 50 grams double cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons canned pesto sauce
  • Ready-made puff pastry
  • 6 dried tomatoes, chopped 
For the cream sauce:
  • 5 kiri squares
  • 2 tablespoons double cream cheese
  • 5 tablespoons Kiri (jar)

Directions

STEP 1
Combine the mozzarella, the double cream, Kiri squares and dried tomato using a mixer.
 
STEP 2
Cut the pastry into twelve circles and spread a little pesto sauce on each.
 
STEP 3
Place one tablespoon of stuffing over each pastry circle.
 
STEP 4
Seal the pastries and bake them in a pre-heated oven for 15 minutes or until golden.
Garnish

 Combine all the cream ingredients in the mixer. Serve in glass bowl with a swirl of pesto sauce on top.
